Saudi Arabia Unveils HUMAIN Chat, Arabic-First AI Platform
  • PublishedAugust 27, 2025

Saudi Arabia has taken a historic step in artificial intelligence with the launch of HUMAIN Chat, the first Arabic-first AI platform powered by the advanced ALLAM 34B model. The platform is developed by HUMAIN, a company fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), making this one of the most ambitious AI projects in the region.

HUMAIN Chat has been designed to work smoothly in both Arabic and English, while also understanding different dialects across the Arab world. It is already available on web, iOS, and Android in Saudi Arabia, with plans for expansion across the Middle East and eventually to global markets.

Closing the Language Gap in AI

Artificial Intelligence has reshaped industries worldwide, yet Arabic speakers—over 400 million people—have often been left behind. Most AI platforms are designed around English or Chinese, which limits their cultural understanding and practical use in the Arab world.

HUMAIN Chat fills this gap. It is trained on the largest Arabic dataset ever created, making it the most advanced Arabic-first language model in existence. The platform also serves the needs of more than two billion Muslims worldwide, who often look for AI tools that respect cultural and linguistic contexts.

This development also aligns with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s plan to transform its economy and strengthen its role as a leader in global innovation.

Features That Make HUMAIN Chat Unique

What makes HUMAIN Chat stand out is its sovereign design and local-first approach. Unlike imported AI tools, it is built, hosted, and secured entirely in Saudi Arabia.

Some of its standout features include:

  • Arabic-first architecture designed to understand native language and dialects.
  • Bilingual fluency, allowing seamless switching between Arabic and English in the same conversation.
  • Real-time, fast responses for smooth user interaction.
  • Compliance with Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), ensuring secure data handling.

This focus on local identity and security ensures that HUMAIN Chat is both reliable and culturally relevant.

The Technology Driving HUMAIN Chat

At the center of this platform is the ALLAM 34B model, a large language model (LLM) with 34 billion parameters. This powerful design allows it to handle detailed and natural conversations with both individuals and businesses.

Unlike many other models, ALLAM 34B has been trained on real-world Arabic content, giving it the ability to understand not only classical Arabic but also different dialects across the Middle East and North Africa. It also supports English integration, making it adaptable to global communication.

This makes ALLAM 34B the most advanced AI model ever developed in the Arab world, giving Saudi Arabia a unique edge in the global AI race.

National and Global Availability

HUMAIN Chat is already live across web browsers, iOS, and Android apps within Saudi Arabia. Plans are in motion to expand the service to GCC countries and then to a wider international audience.

This rollout strategy reflects Saudi Arabia’s aim to establish itself as the AI capital of the Middle East, while also competing on a global stage.

A Defining Moment for Saudi Arabia

According to Tareq Amin, CEO of HUMAIN, the launch of HUMAIN Chat marks “a defining milestone” for the Kingdom. He highlighted that Saudi Arabia can now produce globally competitive technologies that are fully rooted in its own culture, infrastructure, and data systems.

Behind this achievement is a large and talented team. More than 120 AI specialists, including 35 PhD holders, worked on training and improving the model. They were supported by over 600 domain experts from different fields. This shows Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing local expertise and building a strong base of AI talent.

HUMAIN as a Full-Stack AI Enterprise

HUMAIN is not just about one product. Established in May 2025, the company is designed to cover the entire AI ecosystem. Its work spans infrastructure, cloud computing, data management, and applications, giving Saudi Arabia full control over every layer of its AI strategy.

This full-stack approach makes HUMAIN different from countries or companies that rely only on external technology providers. By building its own AI systems, the Kingdom strengthens its digital sovereignty.

Partnerships With Global Tech Leaders

Although HUMAIN is homegrown, it is not working in isolation. The company has teamed up with leading global players to enhance its ecosystem. Partners include:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud hosting.
  • NVIDIA for powerful AI hardware.
  • Qualcomm to drive AI on mobile devices.
  • Cisco and AMD for large-scale data centers and networking solutions.

Through these partnerships, HUMAIN is building hyperscale AI data centers and hybrid cloud-edge platforms, ensuring it can operate on both a regional and global level.

Leadership at the Highest Level

The board of HUMAIN is chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which underlines the project’s national importance. Other board members include senior Saudi leaders as well as executives from Saudi Aramco and Sanabil Investments.

This direct involvement by the Kingdom’s leadership highlights how AI is seen not just as a technology project but as a core national strategy.

Expanding Beyond Chat

HUMAIN Chat is the first of many planned products. HUMAIN is developing a full range of AI-driven tools that will serve:

  • Governments, by modernizing digital services and administration.
  • Businesses, by improving decision-making and productivity.
  • Content creators, by offering AI tools for media, writing, and education.

These solutions will evolve with user needs, adapting in real time to the behavior of individuals and organizations.

A Cultural and Technological Milestone

For decades, Arabic has been underrepresented in the technology world. Most global AI systems treated it as a secondary language. HUMAIN Chat changes this, giving the Arab world a dedicated, advanced AI platform designed specifically for its culture and language.

This development is not only about technology but also about identity. It gives Arabic speakers a platform where their language and culture are not only included but prioritized. At the same time, it ensures that sensitive user data stays within the Kingdom, strengthening trust and sovereignty.

Saudi Arabia’s Global AI Ambition

The Kingdom’s growing investment in artificial intelligence supports its wider goal to diversify the economy and build new industries. With HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia is signaling its ability to compete with top players in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

By developing homegrown technologies while also working with global partners, the country is setting itself up as both a regional powerhouse and a serious global AI competitor.
