Dubai Expands EV Charging Network with DEWA and Parkin Partnership

Dubai Expands EV Charging Network with DEWA and Parkin Partnership
  • PublishedOctober 6, 2025

Dubai has taken another big step toward a greener and cleaner future. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a strategic agreement with Parkin Company PJSC to expand the city’s public electric vehicle (EV) charging network.

This partnership directly supports the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, which aims to promote electric and hybrid vehicles as part of the city’s wider environmental goals. The agreement was announced during the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), held from September 30 to October 2, 2025.

Under the first phase, DEWA and Parkin will roll out 100 new EV chargers across the emirate. These charging stations will be placed in key locations, including residential areas, shopping malls, leisure spots, and other public destinations, making it easier for drivers to charge their vehicles wherever they go.

Officials also mentioned that this is just the beginning. A much larger network will follow soon to ensure complete city-wide coverage. This expansion represents Dubai’s growing commitment to sustainable transportation and cleaner air.

Partnership Supporting Dubai’s Green Mobility Strategy

The partnership between DEWA and Parkin is a major part of Dubai’s effort to reduce carbon emissions and encourage eco-friendly mobility.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said the initiative follows the vision of Dubai’s wise leadership to strengthen the city’s green mobility ecosystem. He added that expanding the EV network will help lower harmful emissions from vehicles and improve air quality, contributing to Dubai’s sustainable development goals.

He emphasized that the collaboration reflects DEWA’s long-term efforts to promote electric vehicles and make them a practical and convenient option for both residents and visitors.

This project is not only about installing chargers; it is about building a complete EV ecosystem that supports the future of clean transportation in Dubai.

How the Partnership Will Work

The DEWA–Parkin collaboration is designed as a perfect example of how public and private companies can work together for the greater good.

In this model, DEWA will handle the management and operation of the charging infrastructure, ensuring that every charging station is efficient, reliable, and connected to the power grid. Meanwhile, Parkin will take care of service delivery, offering user-friendly access through its smart mobile application.

This app will allow EV drivers to find charging stations, book slots, make payments, and monitor usage easily.

By combining their strengths, DEWA and Parkin are creating a smooth and convenient experience for EV users, encouraging more people to make the switch to electric vehicles.

Parkin’s Role in Shaping the Future of Smart Mobility

Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, said this partnership marks a new chapter for the company. Parkin has long been known for its role in managing parking spaces across Dubai, but this project expands its focus toward smart mobility and sustainability.

“By introducing EV charging stations at key destinations, we are making charging easy and accessible for everyone,” Al Ali said. He explained that the company’s goal is to go beyond parking management and become a leader in space management, helping Dubai achieve its vision of becoming a smart and sustainable city.

A Step Toward a Greener Tomorrow

The demand for electric vehicles in Dubai has been rising fast. DEWA has already seen major growth through its EV Green Charger initiative, which makes public charging available across the emirate.

By the end of August 2025, more than 19,000 users were registered under the initiative, showing the rapid adoption of electric vehicles among residents.

At present, DEWA manages over 1,500 public charging points, set up in partnership with government and private sector entities. This number will increase significantly as new chargers from the DEWA–Parkin project are installed.

The initiative also supports Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, aiming to make the city one of the world’s cleanest and most sustainable places to live.

Dubai’s Expanding EV Infrastructure

The 100 new chargers to be deployed in the first phase will serve as part of a larger effort to develop a comprehensive EV charging network across the emirate.

These charging stations will be located in busy and accessible areas, including residential districts, shopping centers, and entertainment venues. This ensures that drivers can find charging stations conveniently located along their routes.

Once this phase is complete, DEWA and Parkin plan to roll out additional chargers to ensure that no part of Dubai is left uncovered.

With each phase, Dubai moves closer to achieving its Green Mobility Strategy 2030, encouraging more residents to switch to electric cars and reducing dependence on traditional fuel.

Benefits of the Initiative

This new collaboration brings many important benefits to the city and its residents.

 1. Environmental Impact:

The move supports Dubai’s goal to reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector, one of the largest sources of greenhouse gases. With more EVs on the road, air quality will continue to improve.

2. Economic Growth:

The expansion of the EV network also creates new business opportunities. From charger manufacturing to software development and maintenance, this ecosystem opens doors for innovation and job creation.

3. User Convenience:

With more charging stations available in daily-use areas, EV drivers can recharge their vehicles while shopping, dining, or spending time with family — making sustainable choices more convenient

4. Technological Advancement:

The partnership promotes the use of smart mobility technology, integrating charging with Parkin’s digital platforms to make the process efficient and user-friendly.

5. Global Leadership:

Dubai continues to position itself as a world leader in sustainability and innovation, setting an example for other cities in the region.

Supporting Dubai’s Long-Term Vision

Dubai’s commitment to sustainability goes far beyond this single project. The city has been steadily building a foundation for a green economy, investing in renewable energy, smart infrastructure, and environmentally friendly urban planning.

Through initiatives like DEWA’s EV Green Charger, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, and now the partnership with Parkin, Dubai is making its mobility systems smarter and more sustainable.

Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, Chairman of Parkin’s Board of Directors, said that this partnership reinforces Dubai’s position as a global pioneer in sustainability. He added that expanding the charging network will ensure Dubai remains one of the most connected, accessible, and future-ready cities in the world.

This project perfectly aligns with the city’s goal of creating a cleaner environment and ensuring that sustainability remains at the heart of Dubai’s development strategy.

A Model for Public–Private Collaboration

The DEWA–Parkin project showcases how collaboration between government entities and private companies can drive large-scale innovation and sustainability.

DEWA’s expertise in energy management and Parkin’s leadership in space management create a strong synergy that benefits both the environment and residents.

This partnership will serve as a model for other cities in the UAE and beyond, showing how working together can achieve real, measurable change.

Powering Dubai’s Electric Vehicle Future

The growing number of EV owners in Dubai is proof that people are ready to embrace change. What they need now is reliable access to charging infrastructure — and this initiative provides exactly that.

With every new charging point added, Dubai strengthens its reputation as a city that prioritizes sustainability, innovation, and smart living.

The new EV charging stations will not only make it easier for residents and visitors to drive electric vehicles but also encourage more people to adopt environmentally responsible habits.

As the city continues to grow, these investments ensure that Dubai’s transportation network evolves in line with its vision for a sustainable future.

Dubai Leading the Way in Green Mobility

Dubai’s efforts to boost electric vehicle adoption highlight the emirate’s clear focus on a sustainable, forward-thinking future. Through the collaboration between DEWA and Parkin, the city is setting an example for the world in balancing technological progress with environmental responsibility.

As the first 100 new EV chargers come online, they will represent more than just infrastructure — they will stand as symbols of progress, innovation, and commitment to a cleaner tomorrow.

Dubai is not only keeping pace with global sustainability trends — it’s setting them.
