Abu Dhabi Launches Festival of Health
Introduction
Abu Dhabi has launched its first ever Festival of Health, a multi-week public drive aimed at encouraging residents to adopt healthier lifestyles.
Organised by the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) in partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH).
This initiative ties into the newly launched “Healthy Living Strategy,” signalling a broader effort by Abu Dhabi’s government to prioritise public health.
What the Festival Offers — Activities, Scope & Reach
The Festival is designed around four key pillars: movement, nutrition, sleep, and mental wellbeing.
It will be held over three consecutive weekends at different locations:
12–16 December at Hudayriyat Island (Abu Dhabi)
19–21 December at Madinat Zayed Park, Al Dhafra
26–28 December at Al Jahili Park, Al Ain
Activities include group exercise sessions, healthy-cooking demos, wellbeing consultations, family-friendly events, sleep and mental-health workshops.
Through these events, the authorities hope to make healthy choices accessible, practical, and part of everyday life for citizens and residents.
Why It Matters — Broader Significance for Abu Dhabi & Public Health
Addressing Lifestyle-Related Health Risks
With rising concerns globally — and in the UAE — about obesity, sedentary habits, and non-communicable diseases.
Holistic Approach to Wellbeing
By focusing not only on physical fitness but also on nutrition, sleep, and mental wellbeing, the initiative recognises that good health is multifaceted.
This aligns with contemporary standards for public health promotion.
Inclusive & Community-Centric
The Festival is open to all — families, children, adults, making it easier for residents everywhere to participate regardless of background or location.
Policy + Practice — From Strategy to Action
The Festival brings the recently approved Healthy Living Strategy to life.
Conclusion
Abu Dhabi’s Festival of Health is more than a series of events.
By making healthy living accessible and engaging for everyone, the emirate is laying the groundwork for a healthier, happier, more resilient population.
For residents, this may be a timely reminder that good health begins with everyday choices.
