China Media Group (CMG), the state-run broadcasting giant, unveiled a comprehensive artificial intelligence-powered media production platform at the 32nd edition of the Beijing International Radio, TV, and Film Exhibition (BIRTV 2025), which is currently being held in the Chinese capital and will conclude on Saturday.

The new platform, CMG Media GPT 2.0, represents a major advancement in the integration of generative AI into large-scale broadcast operations. It was showcased alongside two other flagship innovations developed by CMG: a state-of-the-art Ultra HD all-media technology system and an intelligent Ultra HD broadcasting matrix. According to China Central Television (CCTV), CMG Media GPT 2.0 is a fully upgraded AI production platform structured around six key modules: text generation, image production, video automation, audio integration, professional content creation, and a smart media asset management system.

This modular system supports 82 AI agent applications currently in active use across more than 30 programs spanning various genres such as finance, culture, education, sports, and general news broadcasting. The upgraded AI platform is designed to assist content producers at every stage of media production, ensuring stylistic consistency, faster turnaround times, and seamless integration across departments.

Li Huan, a senior engineer at the CMG Technology Bureau, explained the core functionality: “One of the most notable features of CMG Media GPT 2.0 is its integration with the professional media production workflow. Many of our programs now rely heavily on the platform. It gathers and synthesizes material aligned with each show’s specific format and tone, generating consistent scripts. This allows announcers and producers to develop their segments efficiently and in real time.”

CMG has integrated the platform into its production framework to manage everything from scriptwriting to multimedia formatting. The system leverages large language models and intelligent retrieval to tailor outputs for specific editorial policies and show formats.

Technological Ecosystem: Ultra HD and Smart Broadcast Matrix

In addition to Media GPT 2.0, CMG presented its all-media Ultra HD technology system, which supports end-to-end high-definition workflows across 4K and 8K formats.
