Exceeding the limit by more than 60 km/h carries a fine of Dh2,000, 12 black points, and a 30-day impoundment. For those driving 50 km/h above the limit, the fine is Dh1,000, while going over by 40 km/h brings a Dh700 fine. Exceeding the limit by 30 km/h costs Dh600, and by 20 km/h costs Dh300.
The aim of these fines is not only to punish but also to encourage drivers to stay within safe speed limits and reduce reckless behavior.
Running Red Lights
Jumping a red light is considered one of the most dangerous violations in Dubai. AI radars installed at intersections can easily detect when a car passes through a signal after it has turned red.
The penalty for this violation is severe. Motorists face a fine of Dh1,000, 12 black points on their driving license, and their vehicle is impounded for 30 days. In Dubai, under Decree No. 30 of 2023, drivers must also pay Dh50,000 to release their impounded vehicle. This high release fee highlights how seriously the authorities treat red-light violations, as such behavior often leads to deadly accidents.
Lane Discipline and Tailgating
Maintaining proper lane discipline is another area where AI radars are making a difference. Drivers who fail to stay within their designated lane face a fine of Dh400. However, the radar does not just stop at catching lane drifting. It can also identify aggressive driving behaviors such as tailgating, sudden swerving, or driving on the hard shoulder.

Seat Belt Violations
The AI radars also play a key role in enforcing seat belt rules. They can accurately detect whether or not drivers and passengers are wearing seat belts, even at night or when clothing might disguise it.
Failing to wear a seat belt results in a Dh400 fine and four black points. Authorities stress that everyone in the vehicle, not just the driver, must wear a seat belt at all times. This simple step significantly reduces the risk of serious injury in the event of an accident.
Illegal Window Tinting
Window tinting is popular in Dubai because of the strong sun, but it is strictly regulated. AI radars can now identify cars with illegal levels of tint. The UAE law allows a maximum tint of 50 percent on side and rear windows, while the windshield must remain clear, except for a 15-centimeter strip at the top.
If a vehicle is found with illegal tinting, the fine is Dh1,500. In Dubai, the car may also be impounded, and to release it, the owner must pay Dh10,000 under Decree No. 30 of 2023.
Authorities advise drivers to always follow the approved limits or seek proper exemptions if needed, since excessive tinting can reduce visibility and increase accident risks.
