Dubai Police Adds Mercedes SL55, GT63 and EQS 580 Patrol Cars
  • PublishedSeptember 29, 2025

Dubai Police has once again upgraded its famous luxury patrol fleet. On September 27, three new cars were added to the line-up. These include the Mercedes SL 55 AMG, Mercedes GT 63 AMG, and the all-electric Mercedes EQS 580.

The launch took place on World Tourism Day, showing the city’s strong link between security, tourism, and sustainability. Dubai Police said these cars will patrol popular tourist areas, adding safety and offering support to visitors.

A Move Towards Modern and Sustainable Policing

Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, led the launch event. He explained that this step highlights the police’s vision of keeping up with new technology and modern mobility solutions.

The new cars are a result of a partnership with Gargash Enterprises, the official dealer of Mercedes-Benz in the UAE. Brigadier Al Hajri praised this relationship and said it allows Dubai Police to always have access to the latest automotive technology.

He added:
“Our luxury patrol fleet is not only about power or style. These cars will appear in important tourist locations such as the Burj Khalifa, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, and Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR). Officers will use them to ensure safety, but also to guide and assist tourists.”

The Three New Cars: Style Meets Technology

Mercedes SL 55 AMG – The Road Icon

The SL 55 AMG is one of Mercedes’ most admired models. It is designed for speed, comfort, and performance. For Dubai Police, it adds both prestige and reliability to the patrol fleet.

Mercedes GT 63 AMG – The High-Performance Star

The GT 63 AMG is known for its powerful engine and fast response. It can reach high speeds quickly, which is important in emergency cases. Its bold design also sends a strong message of authority and control.

Mercedes EQS 580 – The Electric Future

The most unique of the three is the Mercedes EQS 580. It is fully electric, making it a step towards green and sustainable policing. This shows Dubai Police’s efforts to support the city’s long-term environmental goals.

The EQS 580 comes with advanced artificial intelligence features, interactive displays, and real-time driving support. These help officers make faster and safer decisions while on patrol.

Beyond Policing: A Role in Tourism and Community Support

Dubai is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. Millions of visitors come every year to explore its landmarks, shopping centers, and attractions. Safety is an important part of this experience.

By using luxury patrol cars, Dubai Police sends a clear message: tourists are not only protected, but also welcomed. The sight of a Mercedes patrol car near the Burj Khalifa or JBR is both eye-catching and reassuring.

Police officers will use these vehicles not only to patrol but also to:

  • Give directions to tourists
  • Share important information about the city
  • Assist in emergencies

This reflects Dubai Police’s vision of being approachable and supportive, not just enforcing laws.

Technology That Transforms Policing

The three Mercedes models are not regular cars. They are equipped with latest mechanical systems, AI-driven features, and interactive displays. These help officers monitor traffic, receive alerts, and react quickly to different situations.

For example, the systems can:

  • Provide real-time data on road conditions
  • Help navigate busy streets
  • Improve safety during high-speed chases
  • Support decision-making with digital tools

This makes every patrol car a smart vehicle that connects officers to command centers in real time.

A Strong Partnership with Mercedes-Benz

At the launch, Thomas Schulz, General Manager of Mercedes-Benz Cars, expressed his pride in the partnership. He said:
“The addition of these new vehicles shows the strength of our collaboration with Dubai Police. Together, we are promoting modern and sustainable mobility.”

The partnership with Gargash Enterprises ensures that Dubai Police always has access to world-class vehicles. It also highlights how private sector companies and government authorities can work together to improve safety and mobility in the city.

Why This Upgrade Matters

  1. Boosting Tourism Appeal

Dubai’s economy depends heavily on tourism. Luxury patrol cars are more than vehicles—they are symbols of safety and innovation. They reassure visitors while also creating memorable moments for those who see them.

  1. Promoting Sustainable Practices

The inclusion of the EQS 580 electric car highlights Dubai’s move towards sustainable policing. With more countries focusing on climate goals, Dubai sets an example by adding zero-emission cars to its fleet.

  1. Improving Police Efficiency

Technology in these cars helps officers respond faster. Real-time data, AI support, and smart navigation make their work more efficient and effective.

  1. Enhancing Dubai’s Global Image

Images of Dubai Police driving luxury cars often go viral on social media. This not only promotes the police force but also strengthens Dubai’s image as a modern, safe, and futuristic city.

  1. Setting a Standard for the Region

Dubai often leads the way in innovation in the Middle East. These new cars could inspire other GCC countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait to follow with similar initiatives.
