Elon Musk Meets UAE Media Chief to Shape Global Tech Future
  • PublishedSeptember 28, 2025

Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Office, the UAE Media Council, and BRIDGE, met with Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, and X, in California. Their meeting took place at Tesla’s headquarters in Palo Alto and focused on the future of technology, media, and clean energy.

The talks come ahead of the BRIDGE Summit 2025 in Abu Dhabi. The summit, set for 8–10 December 2025, will be the world’s largest debut media event. Al Hamed invited Musk to join the event, which will bring together global leaders from technology, media, and innovation to shape the future of digital content.

Shared Goals for Technology and Media

Elon Musk and the UAE share a vision for AI, data centres, and renewable energy. Musk called these the “engines of the 21st-century economy.” He explained that countries with affordable, clean energy will lead global innovation.

Al Hamed highlighted the UAE’s investment in solar power and clean energy. He noted that the UAE already offers some of the lowest clean energy costs in the world, supported by advanced infrastructure. This gives the country an advantage in building a sustainable, digitally powered economy.

UAE’s Global Leadership in AI and Clean Energy

Musk praised the UAE’s early focus on artificial intelligence and clean technology. He credited the country’s leadership, especially President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, for placing the nation at the front of global change.

According to Musk, the UAE’s strong strategy and vision put it in a position to become a world leader in AI, robotics, and clean energy.

Robotics: From Science Fiction to Real Life

During the visit, Musk showed Al Hamed Tesla’s Optimus robotics lab. The demonstration highlighted how robots are no longer part of science fiction. Instead, they are already shaping industries and everyday life.

“Robotics is no longer about the future — it is here today, reshaping industries and societies,” Musk explained.

Robotics can transform manufacturing, transport, logistics, and healthcare, and the UAE could become a testing ground for this new wave of digital innovation.

AI and Ethics: Building Global Trust

The two leaders agreed on the importance of regulating artificial intelligence. While AI can make industries faster and smarter, it also raises questions of trust and fairness.

They discussed the need for a global framework to ensure the ethical use of AI in media. This would cover AI-generated content, news distribution, and regulation. The goal is to build trust, credibility, and safety in the digital space.

Al Hamed explained that the UAE’s vision combines technology with social values. He said the UAE believes that innovation should always serve progress, awareness, and knowledge.

Grok 5: Musk’s Next AI Model

Musk also spoke about his upcoming AI model, Grok 5. He described it as more “curious, adaptive, and powerful” than earlier versions.

Unlike traditional AI tools, Grok 5 will be able to think more like humans and work as a partner. Musk believes it can help solve global challenges, from media credibility to sustainable development.

This vision matched Al Hamed’s call for AI to move from being just a tool to becoming a strategic partner in progress.

New Areas of Cooperation

Musk and Al Hamed explored how the UAE and Musk’s companies could work together. The key areas discussed included:

  • Innovation Labs for AI and Media: To design tools that shape the future of digital storytelling.
  • Educational Programs for Youth: Inspiring the next generation to study science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
  • Sustainability Projects: Linking clean energy solutions with media to spread awareness globally.

Musk also mentioned the role of Starlink in expanding internet access in the Middle East and Africa. He said Starlink could improve education, news, and knowledge-sharing for millions of people.

He also revealed plans for a new AI centre to open this year. He called it a turning point in the global technology sector.

UAE’s Vision for Media and Knowledge

After the meeting, Al Hamed explained the UAE’s approach to media. He said the country sees media as a powerful tool for building awareness, spreading knowledge, and driving development.

“The UAE believes media is more than communication. It is a tool for progress and awareness,” he said.

He added that global partnerships are no longer optional. They are a must to push innovation faster and deliver real, sustainable results.

BRIDGE Summit 2025: More Than a Conference

The BRIDGE Summit 2025, set to take place in Abu Dhabi, is expected to redefine the role of global media.

Al Hamed described it not as a regular conference but as a testing platform for bold and unconventional solutions. The three-day event will bring together global leaders, policymakers, media professionals, and technology experts.

The summit will ask important questions:

  • How can AI restore trust in media?
  • How can clean energy and digital networks power future media systems?
  • What new forms of partnership are needed to build an inclusive media landscape?

Towards a Smarter and Inclusive Media Future

Al Hamed concluded that the future of media will require collaboration between governments, innovators, and businesses. The fast-changing media world can no longer be managed by one sector alone.

He said the BRIDGE Summit was designed to be a global platform that focuses on economic growth, professional development, and shared human progress.

With leaders like Elon Musk on board and the UAE’s strong vision for technology, the summit is expected to be a turning point for global media and innovation.

Why This Meeting Matters

The meeting between Al Hamed and Musk shows the UAE’s clear intent to lead in AI, clean energy, and digital media.

By engaging Musk, one of the world’s most influential tech leaders, the UAE has signaled that it is serious about building a future-ready economy and media landscape.

The mix of AI, robotics, clean energy, and media transformation will define the next stage of global progress — and the UAE wants to be at its centre.
