Fujairah Martial Arts Club Wins Third Judo Excellence Shield

Fujairah Martial Arts Club (FMAC) has once again proven its dominance in the sport of judo in the United Arab Emirates by winning the General Excellence Shield for the third consecutive season. The latest triumph marks a continuation of the club’s impressive journey, establishing its identity as one of the most successful and consistent martial arts institutions in the country.
Victory Marked by Excellence and Determination
The victory came at the conclusion of the 2024–2025 UAE judo season. FMAC amassed a total of 1,130 points, which placed them 200 points ahead of their closest rival. This significant lead highlighted the club’s unwavering focus on preparation, consistency, and sportsmanship. The crowning event took place in Abu Dhabi, where the UAE Judo Cup—considered the final championship of the season—was held. It was during this tournament that the club secured the points needed to claim the coveted title.
The General Excellence Shield is awarded to the club with the highest cumulative performance across the season’s various tournaments. FMAC’s ability to win this honor for the third year in a row speaks volumes about its strategic planning, technical capability, and the steadfast commitment of its athletes and coaches.
Honoring the Achievement with Leadership Support
The shield was received by Nader Abu Al-Shawish, a representative of Fujairah Martial Arts Club, from Mohammed Jassim Al-Sajwani, Assistant Secretary-General of the UAE Judo Federation. In his acceptance speech, Abu Al-Shawish expressed deep gratitude and pride, emphasizing the role of the club’s patron in inspiring consistent success.
He stated that FMAC draws its determination and persistence from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Fujairah and President of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club. Abu Al-Shawish lauded Sheikh Mohammed’s commitment to the development of sports in the emirate and for his ongoing support of FMAC. According to him, the Crown Prince’s involvement has played a pivotal role in motivating the athletes and guiding the club’s continuous improvement.
A System Rooted in Discipline and Planning
One of the key reasons behind FMAC’s repeated success is the strategic discipline practiced by the club’s management, coaching team, and athletes. The head coach of the judo division, Dr. Mouh Al Mouh, praised the technical and athletic departments for their relentless dedication to training, preparation, and improvement. He highlighted that every victory is the product of long-term planning and a shared commitment to excellence.
Al Mouh emphasized that winning three shields in succession is not an easy feat. It required technical precision, mental discipline, and physical endurance. The club’s coaching staff continuously evaluates performance and implements targeted training regimes designed to address weaknesses and build on strengths. These efforts have created an environment where both current and upcoming athletes thrive.
UAE Judo Federation’s Vital Role in National Sports
The UAE Judo Federation also played a fundamental role in creating a thriving ecosystem for martial arts within the country. During the 2024–2025 season, the federation organized and supervised 16 official tournaments. These competitions were marked by high levels of professionalism, fairness, and athletic excellence.
By ensuring fair play, detailed supervision, and transparent scoring, the federation contributed to a competitive atmosphere that pushed all participating clubs to elevate their performance. This platform enabled Fujairah Martial Arts Club and others to continuously improve and compete at their highest levels.
The federation’s structured calendar, clear regulations, and commitment to athlete welfare provided the foundation needed for clubs like FMAC to maintain excellence over consecutive seasons. As a result, the sport of judo in the UAE has gained prominence, attracting young talents from across the country.
Training Beyond the Tatami: Athlete Growth and Values
FMAC is not only focused on technical victories but also on holistic athlete development. The club emphasizes the values of discipline, respect, focus, and self-confidence. These values are taught alongside judo techniques to instill strong character in each athlete.
In many ways, FMAC functions as an academy of life skills through sport. Athletes are trained to face challenges with composure, accept victories with humility, and learn from setbacks with maturity. Coaches act as mentors, nurturing the potential of athletes not only as competitors but also as responsible citizens and community role models.
This integrated approach to martial arts has contributed to the club’s popularity and success. It has helped create a sustainable development model that ensures future generations of athletes continue to rise through the ranks while upholding the club’s values.
Community Impact and Youth Engagement
Fujairah Martial Arts Club is deeply embedded in the local community. Through its various outreach programs and youth engagement initiatives, the club seeks to promote the practice of judo among children and young adults. These programs offer training opportunities to youth from all backgrounds, emphasizing the sport’s benefits in physical health, emotional regulation, and teamwork.
Many of these young participants eventually go on to represent the club in national tournaments, further strengthening the talent pool. In addition, FMAC regularly collaborates with schools, hosting workshops and demonstrations that make martial arts accessible to the wider public.
By developing a grassroots foundation, FMAC ensures that martial arts remain an integral part of the community, contributing to healthier lifestyles and youth empowerment.
A Culture of Sustainability and Forward Planning
While celebrating its present success, FMAC is also looking ahead with a clear plan for the future. The club is currently investing in improved training facilities, advanced fitness technology, and international coaching resources. These enhancements aim to keep the club aligned with global standards in martial arts training.
Moreover, FMAC is fostering partnerships with international judo institutions to expand opportunities for its athletes to train and compete abroad. This global exposure is expected to elevate their competitive edge while also enriching the club’s approach to coaching and technique.
The club is also considering digital platforms for virtual training, analytics, and athlete tracking. Such innovations could further enhance the club’s ability to maintain peak performance throughout the season while offering remote coaching support when needed.
Sustained Excellence and National Pride
The story of Fujairah Martial Arts Club’s three-time triumph in the General Excellence Shield represents more than just a sporting achievement. It embodies a legacy of hard work, visionary leadership, community service, and sustainable growth.
Within the context of the UAE’s growing emphasis on sports development, FMAC stands as a symbol of how institutions can thrive when supported by leadership, guided by strong values, and fueled by collective effort. As martial arts continue to gain traction in the region, FMAC is positioned as a role model for what is possible with focus, discipline, and passion.
The club’s influence has extended beyond Fujairah, serving as an inspiration for other sports clubs and communities across the country. By combining excellence on the mat with meaningful engagement off it, FMAC exemplifies the evolving role of sports in national development.
A Legacy in the Making
The General Excellence Shield is more than just a trophy; it’s a representation of years of relentless effort, countless hours of training, and the shared dreams of athletes, coaches, and supporters. For Fujairah Martial Arts Club, winning it three times in a row affirms that consistency, vision, and teamwork can create sporting legacies that inspire entire communities.
